Government in Telangana has come up with many health schemes for the well being of citizens. There are also a number of private and government hospitals where citizens can avail of quality treatment.
Health Schemes in Karimnagar
Amma Laalana Health Scheme
The Amma Laalana scheme launched in Karimnagar district in October 2011is meant for providing better health care for mother and child. It aims to increase institutional deliveries in Government Hospitals and also decrease infant and maternal mortality rate.To make this possible, all Primary Health Care Centres have been provided with computers with internet, names of all pregnant mothers has been registered with their mobile numbers so that SMS can be sent to them to remind them about regular checkups in the hospital and other advice regarding medicines and diet too are given using electronic media.
The PHCs are well equipped to conduct normal deliveries and send patients requiring special treatment to higher centre in 108 ambulance.
Indira - A Blooming Bird
This is yet another health awareness campaign programme for adolescent girls in the age group of 10 to 19 years. It was launched by District Collector, Karimnagar Smt.Smita Sabharwal Garu in July, 2011. The main objective of this programme is improvement of nutritional and health of girls, promoting awareness about health, hygiene and nutrition, providing sex education, telling them about conception and consequences of adolescent pregnancy and also making them aware about HIV/AIDS and drug abuse. This health awareness programme has gone a long way in reducing death, disease, anemia and malnutrition in adolescents. It has also dealt with depression and early and unprotected sex.Rajiv Aarogyashri Health Care Trust is providing health care for citizens in the district. Various diseases and their treatment are covered under this scheme.
Telangana Employees Health Scheme
Telangana employees health scheme provides unlimited cashless treatment to Government employees and their dependent family members. Total assistance for treatment of any illness in any hospital (private or Government) will be given under this scheme. Also, no premium amount is required to be paid by teachers/employees from their salary.

There is Government Area Civil Hospital in Karimnagar where treatment is provided at affordable rates. It is a 350 bed- hospital with Rajiv Arogyasri ward, ICU, neonatal care unit and nutritional rehabilitation centre. It is also equipped with a C-Arm machine. Besides, there is also AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) hospital with 20 beds is also coming up on the premises.
